2025 Wedding Predictions from a Baltimore Wedding Photographer

Here’s my 2025 wedding predictions, as a Baltimore based wedding photographer. I’ve been loving all of the great conversations I’ve been having with couples in the new year.

Whether they are bringing in fresh ideas or tried and true classics, here are my top 5 predictions for the year.

1. Spending time intentionally

Couples are being more intentional with how they spend their time on their wedding day. Couples are putting extra emphasis on attending cocktail hour. Which means more couples are doing a first look, so they can do the photos they want to before the ceremony, and also enjoy cocktail hour with their guests.

Couples are also prioritizing time to hangout with their VIPs, their besties, their wedding party, their family. Potentially forgoing a long list of formal portraits, to instead set aside time to be with their people. Opting to have this time photographed as it happens, over ‘stiff formal photos’ as they say. Couples could plan a champagne toast with family members or set the vibes with a pre-ceremony dance party with their wedding party.

2. Incorporating personal values

One 2025 prediction that we are loving is seeing couples personalizing their celebrations in a variety of ways. The design and events of the day are all considered with the couple’s values and interests in mind. It has to ‘feel like them’.

We continue to see this through family or friends officiating ceremonies. Couples prefer the added personal touch of having loved ones officiating. The heartfelt stories and emotions that are included make your wedding ceremony that much more special.

As pets become more and more like children to many couples, they are finding ways to include them in their day. You can hire a company like Furever and Fur Always to dog sit your pup on your day. But maybe your fur baby isn’t quite ready for the spotlight, you could incorporate them into your napkins, signage, and more.

Couples are also bringing in their personal flair through their decor. Whether it’s readers showing their love for books, a whiskey bar for the couples who enjoy a nice pour, or adding thrifted and vintage touches to your design.

3. Intimate celebrations

As much as big guest lists are still popular, with couples excited for the big, extravagant party. Other couples are opting for more intimate celebrations. Stating they prefer to enjoy their day in a relaxed, laidback way. As much as couples are being intentional about their time, they are also being intentional about their guest list.

4. Colorful palettes

Couples seem to be mixed on colorful wedding palettes versus the classic white. However, with more couples leaning into a fun atmosphere and incorporating their personal values, colorful weddings may just have the upper hand with our 2025 wedding predictions. 

Couples are bringing in color with their floral design, table decor, and linens. Which is where having a wedding planner, like Pena & Company, is so important. They can work to bring your colorful wedding dreams to life in a way that’s cohesive and jaw dropping.

5. Film photography

Couples are loving the nostalgia that film photography adds to their wedding photography. It’s not as important to them for their photographer to have the latest and greatest camera technology. But rather, couples love the artistic approach and romantic touch that film adds to their wedding photography.
