Anna and Sam got married on a summer day in Frederick, Maryland. Their McClintock Distilling wedding day was full of so much laughter and good vibes, celebrating with their friends and family after four years together.
Anna and Sam both chose to honor their grandparents in some of the details they wore. Anna wore her grandmother’s earrings. While Same wore his late grandfather’s cufflinks. While getting ready, Anna also wore a robe that was made from her Mother’s wedding dress. Her mom was so thrilled to have her dress being used again!
While getting ready, Anna had on her sister in law’s veil but it didn’t quite feel right. Feeling like she had to wear it because that’s the norm. But it also didn’t quite feel like her. With her mom’s comforting guidance, she opted not to wear on. It was one of those “if it’s not 100%, hell yes, then it’s a no” moments. She trusted her gut and in the end was happy with her decision.
Anna and Sam knew they wanted time together before their ceremony for their first look and portraits. They wanted to enjoy taking photos while walking along Carroll Creek from their getting ready location to McClintock Distilling. They were greeted with so many “congratulations!” along the way. And it gave them time to relax and calm their nerves before their ceremony.
For Anna and Sam, McClintock Distilling was their perfect venue. When touring mansions and barns, they didn’t really felt like them. This felt like the perfect blend for them for a laidback and fun McClintock Distilling Wedding.
Anna and Sam shared their vows privately during their first look. Which is great for couples like them who don’t necessarily like getting emotional in front of others, but still want to share heartfelt vows with each other. The ceremony was light hearted and fun, setting the tone for the rest of their celebration.
During dinner service, Anna and Sam were down to pop outside for golden hour portraits. They chose to attend all of cocktail hour in lieu of doing more portraits then, so sunset was perfect. We couldn’t have timed them more perfectly! The sunlight was so soft and dreamy.
Erin, Anna’s twin sister, gave such a loving speech that as a fellow twin, I totally understood. Being the older twin, Anna was forced to go first with everything growing. Even Anna going first with marriage so Erin could “see how that goes too”.
The absolute sweetest moment for Anna’s parents, who danced to their wedding song, almost 30 years later. It is moments like these, where I’m reminded why I love photographing weddings. It is just the start of a wonderful life with your person.
Chris with BWG Music and Entertainment had the dance floor going all night. Playing their favorite hits – from Taylor Swift to Blink 182. It was quite the range of music but everyone loved it!
This might be my new favorite send off. Thanks to the instagram algorithm gods a few months before the wedding, I shared a reel of a lantern send off. Anna immediately responded with “OH I wanna do this” and she made it happen!
The perfect blend of warm light and endless time. No worrying about spending time lighting sparklers just for them to burn out. And no huge safety concerns with open flames. This is a great idea for couples with venues that don’t allow sparkler send offs. The perfect way to cap off Anna and Sam’s McClintock Distilling Wedding.
