Amanda and Corey’s spring wedding at The Bond Events in York, PA was one with equal parts sentiment, laughter and vibes for days. Though it had rained all morning, once I arrived to start photographing Amanda’s details the rain stopped and blessed us with a perfect afternoon. They say rain on your wedding day is good luck right?!
Amanda and her girls got ready at the Yorktowne Hotel just a few blocks from The Bond. With the rain clearing up, I had the chance to walk the few blocks with Amanda to her venue where she did her final preparations. We chatted a bit about the day, what she was excited about and if there was anything that was making her anxious. Overall she was super excited for the day and couldn’t wait to see Corey.
Amanda and Corey are lively, fun people so there was no shortage of laughter and smiles throughout the day, which made my job easy capturing genuine moments with them and their guests.
Mixed in with the laughs and good times were also some sentimental moments. For anyone who has lost a parent, their wedding day comes with mixed emotions. For Corey that was also true, with his mom having passed away. So, to have her there celebrating with them, Amanda’s parents, Dennis and Kathleen, took on an 18 month long project. They lovingly turned one of her Lily Pulitzer shirts into a tie and pocket square for Dennis to wear on the wedding day. Kathleen also had photos of Corey’s mom laminated onto a card that Corey put in his jacket pocket next to his heart. She was right there with him celebrating.
When Amanda and I chatted about their design for the wedding, she expressed that she didn’t feel drawn to the traditional venues, they all felt too formal. So when they found The Bond in York, PA they knew it was perfect with it’s modern, industrial feel and street art surrounding the venue. And I loved the mix of traditional and bold that both the venue and murals created for their day.
Their intimate ceremony, officiated by their good friend Vince, was followed by cocktail hour in The Bond’s new Royal Square Gardens. Cocktail hour brought some of my favorite moments from their day. Getting the chance to just observe Amanda and Corey interacting with so many of their friends, seeing the joy shared by so many, and sweet moments between Amanda’s sisters and grandparents.
It was no surprise that Amanda & Corey’s reception was a hit. They partied all night with the help of DJ Mike Christie playing all of their favorites like Taylor Swift and Justin Bieber. I will forever be a fan of glow sticks on the dance floor and a new favorite are the confetti cannons Amanda’s dad surprised them with! They were having so much fun they didn’t even want to stop to cut their cake.
To Amanda and Corey, thank you for trusting me to photograph these genuine moments from your wedding day. It was truly such a blast! Congratulations and I cannot wait to see what the future holds for you both.
